I am back from Omaha and got the results of my scan. The best result would have been N.E.D (No Evidence of Disease). Although that is not what happened, I got as close to it as possible without quite being N.E.D. The only visible cancer is a very small amount around my liver. The two people reading the MRI said it was so small they couldn't really tell yet if it was mucinous cancer remaining or fluid left over from the surgery but it is leaning to possibly some left over mucinous cancer. Either way, I am still happy as that was the only visible sign of anything to be concerned about and the rest of the cancer is suppressed to where it is not visible on the MRI.
Since I had cardiac issues with secondary chemotherapy, I am no longer on chemo and will have my next MRI at the end of March, 2015 to see if the stuff around my liver stays the same, gets smaller, or gets bigger and they will always check to see if it shows itself again anywhere else. Basically, time will tell. For now, I will just work on getting as healthy as I can and enjoy my family, friends, and life.
Thank you everyone who was there for me in any and every way you could be. Please keep it coming. The fight will never be over as this cancer almost always returns. I will just call the past 7 months round 1. I got my ass kicked with diagnosis, surgery, chemo, ER visits, ambulance rides, cardiac issues, blackouts, overnight admitting into the hospital, blood clots, port not working, etc… but now round 2, I plan on it going more in my favor. I still have to take blood thinners for about 5 more months until the blood clot in my jugular vein goes away and in two months, I should have my port removed from my chest.
All in all, I am still very happy with where I am at and look forward to the future hoping for no major issues for quite some time. I hope I am not speaking too soon but for the first time in a long time, I am feeling good.
