Sorry about not updating from my appointment 6 months ago as I couldn’t seem to get this site to add my post. (but just found it in a old draft section and posted the “lost post” below)
Anyway, here we are – JULY 2018. We received relatively good news from my Specialist. My MRI showed mostly stable diffused peritoneal metastatic disease. However, they have been monitoring a few tumors and compared them in this scan to previous scans. A couple tumors increased in size about 0.2mm all the way around and another increased 0.7mm along my colon. In math numbers though, that is a 4%-28% size increase from 6 months ago. But the overall good news was not a lot of changes over my entire peritoneal cavity. I still have multiple serosal implants on my liver, a dilated bile duct, conspicuous lymphatic nodes, and multiple soft tissue deposits pretty much everywhere in my peritoneal cavity. There is fluid in my pelvic area (where I don’t want it).
And the plan is to stay on Ibrance and a few other drugs plus Morphine, Oxycodone, and Hydrocodone for the next 6 months. I will return in January for another scan and I am going to be referred to Experimental Therapeutics too. Surgery to clean things out is still an option but I don’t want to do that until I really need it. If my pain gets worse or I have serious issues, I will return earlier.
As for life, I’ve tried to do a lot in the last 6 months. Sharette and I went snowmobiling, I went skiing and tried to fly-fish too. We all went to the Redwood forest in California. We took a trip to Washington DC and saw a lot of the monuments, we toured the East and West Wing of the White House, the Capitol, and met several celebrities. I had a meeting with a few Senators about eliminating the military widows SBP-DIC offset. We went to Arlington National Cemetery and even saw President Trump drive by and we made it out to Mount Vernon too. All in all, it was a 55-mile walking week. I was able to do some gold prospecting. My son and I went to Las Vegas for his 21st Birthday and ziplined the Slotzilla. Sharette and I even caught a Cubs game while we were in San Diego.
As for my pain. I am in more than I have been but am able to take pain killers and have somewhat of a normal day. They reduce the pain down to just uncomfortable. I do have to lay down and rest a whole lot more than I would like but all in all I am still blessed to have such a great family and friends to keep me motivated.
