I had my port removed from my chest and that procedure went fine. I have been doing mild strength training and cardio. I still get winded quickly but I am doing the best I can. I wear a heart monitor when I exercise and try to keep my heart rate at about 130. It doesn’t take much to get there but I have been able to hold it there for 30 minutes a couple of times. I tried to shovel snow yesterday but got winded way to quickly so Sharette and my boys finished it for me. I also have worked a couple hours each week for the past few weeks. There have been several days that I wasn’t able to go in at all, or I had to stop after about 1-3 hours but I like getting out of the house when I can. I even completed a fun run with my family on November 1st. It was really more of a fun fast walk and we did the 5K in about 40 minutes but I did it. I took my family to see Blake Shelton but the bass effected my heart and I was miserable at the concert but Sharette, James, and Joey had a good time. My heart pains seem to be getting better but I still have frequent pain and discomfort at or near my heart, I still have breathing discomfort because of my diaphragm, adhesion pains, digestion pains, and some pelvic pains that the docs can’t seem to figure out why. I am still not absorbing iron and magnesium due to a smaller colon or chemo damage so I am on supplements. The last check showed my iron was still low even with taking 3 supplements a day so I was told to take vitamin C with it to increase absorption. I am still taking thinners for my blood clot in my neck and am told I will need to do that until about February. I could list a dozen other problems but would rather focus on the positive. I went San Francisco with Sharette, fishing with my family a few hours north of Boise, Saw Joey catch his first fish ever, took a bike ride, when to a movie, and built a mantle with my uncle. The good moments are worth pushing through the health issues. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas and then what ever else I can be a part of. Despite the cancer and all the havoc it has caused, I still consider myself to be a lucky man thanks to being surrounded by loving family and friends. I just wanted to share a few things that have happened over the past two months. | |
